The Tower

A game about a journey to a distant tower. It’s structured as a series of provoking questions and includes repeated sections (almost like musical notation) which is quite a clever way of making the most use of the 200 words to maximise the resulting story.

At first blush it reminded me of Doomed Pilgrim as the story and journey emerges from the questions that the players ask. However whereas in that game the point is the protagonist will not arrive at their destination here the Tower is a major part of the game and after each repeating section the players uncover more information about it as they draw closer.

In fact one of the key questions the players must answer is what happens when the travellers arrive at the tower and how their story ends. I think this will be a lot more statisfying narratively than Doomed Pilgrim’s suspended narrative.

I generally think two player games are much more effort than larger group games, particular ones that require a continual portrayal of an interesting relationship.
