Perseus V
Perseus V is a clever kind of guessing game. It’s set on spaceship in the far future where the ship AI has awakened the sleeping human crew to deal with some emergency.
One player takes on the role of the AI. They draw a deck of cards that indicate whether the AI is hostile or benign. The other players then take on the role of crew members. Each crew member is asked to perform a dangerous and questionable task by the AI. The scene is resolved by drawing one of the AI cards. Red means harm while black indicates success.
Once all the crew have acted one of them may choose to sacrifice themselves to draw another card.
Finally the crew must decide to trust or shutdown the AI.
There is an interesting asymmetrical “win” condition. The AI “wins” if it is not shutdown but the crew only win if they shutdown a hostile AI or trusted a benign one.
I’m not sure whether a single round gives enough information to the crew players or whether it is a satisfying enough story but the basic guessing game seems pretty interesting.
